The MDC desiccant dehumidifier is designed to efficiently dehumidify air in open system applications. The unit could operate in recirculation mode too. In this case plate with spigots for ductwork connection has to be ordered as additional accessory. The compact construction allows extended periods of operation with a minimum of maintenance. The design facilitates easy transport by one person. Dehumidifier is designed for drying-out buildings, new buildings as well as waterdamaged buildings. Furthermore, it is used for room air dehumidification, dry air storage, water works and pump stations, etc. Especially suitable for low temperature and low humidity operation.

Constructional Features:

  • The casing has high resistance to atmospheric corrosion and made of 1,0 mm stainless steel sheet metal; some parts made of 1,5 and 2,0 mmstainless steel in order to achieve rigidity.
  • Compact design and low weight of the unit.
  • High performance at low temperatures and low relative humidity in a room.
  • Optional humidistat is available as an accessory.
  • Easy access to the internal components of the dehumidifier for maintenance.
  • PTC-heater.
  • High efficiency of the washable silica gel rotor.
  • The design facilitates easy transport by one person.
  • All components made exclusively by European manufacturers.

Desiccant Technologies Group industrial desiccant dehumidifier MDC5000 designed for general purposes – room air dehumidification and process drying. The compact construction allows extended periods of operation with a minimum of maintenance. Especially suitable for low temperature and low humidity operation. Unit includes desiccant rotor, EC-fans, reactivation heater, bag filters and controls. Panels insulated with 20mm rock wool insulation.

Constructional Features:

  • The casing is completely hermetic and panels are made of 1,0mm AluZinc sheet metal with isolation of 20mm (rock wool); it has high resistance to atmospheric corrosion. Powder painted panels (outside only); rigid frame made of 1,5mm AluZinc sheet metal (powder painted completely) to achieve rigidity.
  • Compact design and low weight of the unit.
  • High performance at low temperatures and low relative humidity in a room.
  • Optional humidistat is available as an accessory.
  • Microprocessor based control (optional).
  • Tubular electric heating elements for regeneration (standard unit) as well as on request with water, steam or gas heating coil (customized unit).
  • Easy access to the internal components of the dehumidifier for maintenance.
  • EC-fans
  • Pocket filters G4-F9.
  • High efficiency of the washable silica gel rotor.
  • All components made exclusively by European manufacturers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a desiccant dehumidifier and how does it work?

A desiccant dehumidifier uses a rotating desiccant rotor to absorb moisture from process air. A separate regeneration airstream heats the rotor to drive the moisture off and exhaust it safely. This approach delivers very low dew points and reliable performance at low temperatures.

Choose desiccant when you need low dew points, must control humidity at lower room temperatures, or have high outside-air latent loads. Refrigerant units are fine for mild RH reduction in warm spaces, but desiccant is the standard for industrial, process-critical, or low-humidity applications.

Targets vary by application. Industrial spaces often run 35–55% RH. Processes like lithium battery manufacturing, cold-storage, or hygroscopic material handling may require very low dew points well below 0 °C. The correct setpoint should be defined in your URS and process QA.

MDC series can be supplied with BACnet or Modbus, alarm points, and trend logging for seamless integration into building management or SCADA platforms.

Sizing is based on moisture-load calculations: space volume and ACH, outside air and infiltration, process and occupancy gains, and the required temperature/RH or dew point. From this we determine rotor size, regeneration heat, and airflow.

Common uses include food and confectionery, pharmaceuticals, electronics, aerospace, cold storage and freezer rooms, archival storage, printing, lithium-ion battery production, and any process needing consistent low humidity.
